Karl Fazer's cultural heritage
Taste sensations and encounters since 1891.
The young Karl Fazer opened his French-Russian confectionary in Helsinki in 1891. Frequenting Visiting Fazer was the trendy thing to do right from the beginning, and the establishment soon became the most popular café in town.
A lucky encounter took place for the confectioner, too: Berta Blomqvist came into the café to have a cup of hot cocoa, and Karl Fazer noticed the beautiful young lady. It was love at first sight.
After they married in 1894, Karl and Berta worked side-by-side. Customers liked the café and enjoyed the delicacies. At the same time, the Fazer tradition was established. The tradition requires only the best from today's Fazer restaurants, as well.
In spring 2009, Fazer took taste sensations and encounters to the eighth floor of the Stockmann department store in Helsinki, above everyday routines. The new F8 carries on the Fazer tradition of providing sensations and encounters – and it’s trendy just like Karl Fazer's confectionary back in the day.
